Letter to Inya Faas about over committing

Dear Inya Faas,

I have too much going on. It is hard for me to honor the commitments I have made, to do what I have said I will do, and there are always more demands being put on me. What can I do to keep from going nuts?

Yours,
Lotte Due, Sacramento, CA

Dear Lotte,

There is a simple remedy to your dilemma-just say ‘No.’ This is acceptable. It is also a complete sentence. The sentence that awaits you if you do not learn this effective phrase is the equivalent to being roasted alive. Do not agree to do things you do not wish to do, particularly if your primary motivation is to avoid raising the ire of those who have asked you. You, and those who are around you, will be much better off for your honesty.

Sincerely,
Inya Faas
